Sub: Availability of various types of freeships/scholarships in the Institute
for B.Tech.,M.Tech. and Ph.D. students from the session 2007-08 onwards :
It is for information of the candidates, aspiring for admission in the 1st year in this Institute for the session 2007-08 that following freeship/scholarships are available for B.Tech./M.Tech./Ph.D students from the session 2007-08 :
A) For B.Tech.Students
i) Ten Full (100%) Freeship/Scholarships for students admitted in the Institute
In 1st Semester and who may be having AIEEE Rank from 1 to 10000.
ii) Twenty Half (50%) freeship/scholarships for students admitted in the
Institute in 1st Semester and who may be having AIEEE Rank from
1 to 15000 after adjusting the students who are eligible for full freeships.
iii) Fourty Quarter (25%) Freeship/Scholarship for students admitted in the
Institute in 1st Semester and who may be having AIEEE Rank from 1 to 20000
after adjusting those students covered under (i) & (ii) as above..
iv) Three Full(100%) Freeships/Scholarships to be given to those Girls students
who are the only child of their parents.
v) Ten Half(50%) Freeships/Scholarships exclusively reserved for Girls students
having AIEEE Rank from 1 to 20000 and not covered under A,B & C above.
The above scholarships are subject to approval of the Board of Governors of this Institute and further subject to the following conditions :
a) The freeship will be admissible to only those students whose parents income is not more than 3.0 lacs per annum.
b) In the second semester the freeship/scholarship would be continued in respect of those
students who are granted freeship in the first semester if they get 70% marks in the
previous semester and his scholarship would continue in subsequent semesters, provided
he/she gets cumulative 70% marks in previous semesters.
c) In case a students fails to secure 70% cumulative marks in previous semester, his
Scholarship would be discontinued and in case he improves in the subsequent
Semesters, his scholarship would be restored.
d) Such students, who are granted scholarships must have atleast 85% attendance.
e) The conduct of such students, who are granted freeships/scholarships should be
good and they should not indulge themselves in any in disciplinary activities. In
case, any student is found indulging in any in disciplinary activities in the Institute
or hostel his/her freeship/scholarship would be discontinued.
f) A student would be eligible for freeship/scholarship only, if he/she is not getting
any other scholarship or financial help from any quarter.
B) BE/B.Tech./B.Arch.Courses(Sir M.Vishvervariya Scholarship)
The Haryana State Counselling Society has approved grant of scholarships upto Rs.40,000/- per student per year or actual tuition fee whichever is less for toppers of each branch in each Govt.Aided Institute. The grant of this scholarship is subject to the conditions as laid down in Office Order No.84 dated 2-7-2007 issued by Haryana State Counselling Society,Technical Education Deptt.
C) Grant of Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for B.Tech./MCA Students of this Institute from the session 2007-08 :
15% students of B.Tech. and MCA Course of total sanctioned admission capacity or actual intake whichever is less are eligible to receive merit-cum-Means Scholarship of Rs.750/- p.m. from the session 2007-08 subject to the condition as provided under the scheme of Merit-cum-Means scholarship approved by the State Govt.
D) Availability of Teaching Assistanceship of Rs.5000/-p.m. for M.Tech.students
admitted without Gate Score :
The institute is running 3 M.Tech.Courses with 18 seats in each course i.e. (i) M.Tech.in Mechanical Engg.(with specialization in Manufacturing Technology and Automation), (ii) M.Tech. in Computer Engg. and (iii) M.Tech. in Electrical Engg.(with specialization in Power System and Drives). Candidates admitted with Gate Scores are granted scholarship of Rs.5000/- p.m. by AICTE subject to availability of funds. However in order to promote the policy of “Earn while you Learn” the Institute has also introduced 08 teaching assistanceship of Rs.5000/-p.m. in each of the above course on merit subject to the condition that the concerned M.Tech.student is willing to take teaching or other allied work of 6 to 8 hours per week.
In addition to above the Haryana State Counselling Society,Technical Education Deptt. vide Office Order No.84 dated 2-7-2007 has sanctioned 60 Arya Bhatta Research Scholarships for M.Tech.courses in the State of Haryana subject to the conditions as given in the above office order. However, the exact number of above scholarships to this Institute would be allotted by the Haryana State Counselling Society.
E) Availability of Scholarship for pursuing Ph.D Programme in Computer,Mechanical and Electrical/Electronics Engg.:
Two Scholarships of Rs.18000/-p.m. each for pursuing Ph.D in Computer,Mechanical and Electrical/Electronics Engg. are also available with a provision of maintenance grant of Rs.10000/- per student per year to meet misc. expenditure on conduct of research activities. In addition to above, Haryana State Counselling Society, Panchkula,Technical Education Deptt. has sanctioned four Sir C.V.Ramman Research Scholarship each upto Rs.18000/-p.m. per candidate plus Rs.5000/- from contingency per student per month for pursuing Ph.D. Programme.
F) Reimbursement of Tuition Fee and other Expenditure for SC/ST/BC students
as per norms laid-down by the State Govt. :
The District Welfare Office,Haryana Govt. arranges reimbursement of tuition fee and other expenses in respect of SC/ST/BC students as per norms approved by the State Govt. Book Bank Facility for SC/ST students are also available in the Institute Library. Further, the State Govt. has also approved in principle that Laptop facility be provided to SC/ST students.
In addition to above, some scholarships for B.Tech. students sponsored by Charitable Trusts/Industries are also available such as Bharti Group of Industries Scholarship, Kalpana Chawla Memorial Scholarship, Charanji Lal Maya Devi Cheritable Trust Scholarship, Association of Welding Products Manufacturers Scholarship etc.
However, it is made clear that no student can claim scholarship as a matter of right and the decision of Competent Authority regarding grant of any type of scholarship is final.
